Did you know that this week is International Antibiotic Awareness Week, and that today is European Antibiotic Awareness Day?

There’s been a fair bit of activity over on the human medicine side, but not so much in the veterinary world up until now. Possibly that’s because veterinary practices have other things on their minds with the London Vet Show coming up later this week, but there’s no reason why some of us can’t combine the two. We certainly aim to do so – and in a fun way.

Test Your Knowledge. Name the Celebrity Bacterium

All week, this blog – along with the Gratnells Veterinary Facebook Page and Twitter Feed – will be posing a simple question: Do we really understand enough about bacteria?

And now the fun part.

Every day from the 18th to the 22nd of November a new picture of an important veterinary bacterium will go up on the Gratnells Veterinary Facebook Page.  Plus there will be some extra clues here on this blog.

  • Every correct answer will be entered into a prize draw for a Gratnells trolley
  • You can get a bonus entry by ‘Liking’ the Gratnells Veterinary Facebook Page
  • Another bonus entry by following us on Twitter

We’ll announce the winner of the draw, at the end of the week, at the London Vet Show. Test Your knowledge and name the celebrity bacterium. Send your answers to [email protected]

We’ll be posting the first clue this afternoon, for today’s mystery bacterium. We’ll send a tweet when the post is live. Remember, every correct answer will be entered into the draw. Good luck!
